Pet Laparoscopic Surgery in Stevenson Ranch

The adage "less is more" is especially true with laparoscopic surgery. This minimally invasive technique, also known as “keyhole surgery,” allows our veterinarians to perform various procedures within the abdomen, such as laparoscopic spays, using small incisions. A slender instrument, equipped with a camera and light, is used to view and operate inside the body.

At Stevenson Ranch Veterinary Center, this advanced method allows us to minimize discomfort and recovery time for our patients.

Our Laparoscopic Surgery Process in Stevenson Ranch

When performing laparoscopic surgery, your pet is first placed under general anesthesia. Two small incisions, each about the size of a dime, are made in the abdomen to insert the laparoscope and instruments. The laparoscope, featuring a light and camera, sends images to a monitor, allowing for precise and safe operation by our team.

With this dual-port system, we can obtain a detailed view of the surgical area and perform procedures with optimum precision. This allows for less damage to surrounding tissues, which results in less tissue bruising, swelling, and discomfort, and faster healing for our patients.
