When she lost her first family cat to an undetermined illness, Dr. Lisa Pope’s interest in veterinary medicine was sparked. She wanted to help other families and pets, so she decided to become a veterinarian! Now Dr. Pope is the Chief Medical Director and owner of Stevenson Ranch Veterinary Center.
Dr. Pope grew up on Long Island, New York. She attended the State University of New York at Farmingdale, graduating with honors as a registered veterinary technician. Two years later, she signed up at the State University of New York at Stony Brook in order to complete her Bachelor’s degree in biology. From there, she traveled west to study veterinary medicine at the University of California in Davis. Upon graduating with her DVM degree in 1994, Dr. Pope headed south to practice in Los Angeles. Dr. Pope opened Stevenson Ranch Veterinary Center in 2000. As a veterinarian, she particularly enjoys helping senior pets, and strongly believes that no animal needs to live with pain. She’s also passionate about the long-lasting bonds she forged with clients—she’s cared for some pets for their entire lives! Dr. Pope and her husband have two young children, Caden and Kyle, who both dive for the Rose Bowl Aquatics Dive Team. The family shares their home with Willie, a Golden retriever, as well as two cats named Joey and Leo. When she has a spare moment between her work and family life, Dr. Pope enjoys food and wine, hiking, bicycling, and kayaking with her husband and kids.
