Looking for Veterinary Care? Stevenson Ranch is a place that you can your pet can depend on for exceptional care.
Do you want your pet to live a long, healthy, disease-free life? Has your pet received the necessary protection from serious and potentially-fatal illnesses? At Stevenson Ranch Veterinary Center, we provide the personalized vaccination protocol that your pet needs to ensure they remain in the best health possible.
Pet vaccinations are a vital aspect of your pet’s wellness plan. Vaccines are specifically designed to equip your pet’s immune system with disease-fighting antibodies. These antibodies provide an additional layer of defense against many serious and contagious illnesses such as:
- Canine influenza (H3N8 and H3N2 strains)
- Feline leukemia
- Lyme disease
- …and more
Our veterinary center is fully equipped with a variety of vaccines to meet your pet’s every healthcare need.
The flu is not just a human virus—it can infect our pets, too! Canine influenza has two common strains; H3N8 and H3N2. This virus is airborne and highly contagious, and can cause symptoms such as sneezing, coughing, nasal and ocular discharge, fever and lethargy.
Here at Stevenson Ranch, we’re equipped to vaccinate and protect dogs against both flu strains. The Department of Veterinary Public Health recommends vaccinating your dog if they frequently board, visit their groomer, go to the dog park or beach, or spend any time around other dogs. If your dog is being vaccinated for the first time, they will require a booster two to four weeks after their initial injection, and then annually thereafter. Speak with your veterinarian to determine if your dog may be at risk.
Customized Pet Vaccination Schedules
We strongly believe in a personalized approach to veterinary care, which is why we tailor your pet’s vaccination schedule to meet their unique set of needs. Our customized vaccination protocols are based on a variety of factors, including your pet’s species, lifestyle, and risk of exposure.
Here’s how our vets could customize your pet’s vaccine schedule:
The vaccination for rabies is essential for both cats and dogs. Cats will also need to receive the FVRCP vaccine, which offers protection from feline viral rhinotracheitis, calicivirus, and panleukopenia. The DHPP vaccination that protects dogs from distemper, hepatitis, parainfluenza, and parvovirus is also considered to be a core vaccine. These will be prescribed to your pet regardless of lifestyle factors.
Your vet may also make additional vaccination recommendations. For example, if your cat likes to roam around outside, then they likely need the vaccination for feline leukemia. Also, if your dog spends time at daycare while you’re at work, then you’ll need to have them vaccinated for Bordetella, or kennel cough.
Our vet will consult with you and assess your four-legged friend’s risk factors before tailoring a pet vaccination protocol that meets their needs.
